Loki looked at the 12 month old baby girl, who was currently turning pages in some book she’d probably never read.  However, (Name) was so focused on this book, it made Loki smile.  “What are you doing, (Name)?” he asked.

“Dada… dada.  Book.  Dada.”

“Do you know what it is about?”

“Dada… book,” (Name) stated.  Loki eased down onto the floor next to his daughter.

“It’s about magic.  Deep magic.  Look here,” he said, pointing to a page.  She followed his finger.

“Maaaaaa gic.”

“Yes.  Magic,” Loki said, pressing a kiss to (Name)’s head.  He tapped the page with his finger.  “This, is a spell to make replicas of yourself or somebody.”  He pointed to (Name).  Suddenly, about thirteen other (Name) babies appeared, giggling crazily.  He waved his hand, leaving only the real (Name).  “I see you like that one.”
“Maaaaa gic.”

Loki smiled and flipped the page.  “This one can show you what you long for.”  Loki waved his hands in a circle about himself.  There, in the corner of the room, he saw Frigga smiling at the two of them.  (Name) looked over, let out a small inquisitive “ah!” and toddle crawled over to the illusion.  Frigga picked the child up and bounced her in her arms for a moment, before returning her silently to Loki and disappearing.

“Dada?” (Name) murmured, reaching up to touch Loki’s cheek.  She pulled her hand back and looked at it.  It was slightly wet.  She furrowed her little baby eyebrows and puffed out her cheeks.  “Nooo.”  She swiped furiously at his face, trying to wipe the tears away.  He smiled slightly.

“Well, you saw I want.  What do you want?” he asked, waving his hands in a circle about (Name).  She watched his hands go round and round till a young lady appeared in the corner of the room where Frigga stood.  (Name) looked over and squealed happily.  Loki looked confused.  The lady was definitely not Asgardian.  She had long flowing brown hair, milky pale skin, and deep brown eyes, filled with tears.  Her outfit was that of flowing petals and leaves.  (Name) scampered as fast as she could to the lady and held her arms out.  The lady smiled brightly at her, her tears fading away quickly.  Loki stood up and moved toward the illusion.  (Name) had her baby fists entangled in the lady’s hair.  “Who are you?” Loki asked.

Though she couldn’t talk, the lady glanced up at him and smiled brightly.  Loki’s eyes widened.  The lady and (Name) did share a lot of common features.  The only very major difference between the lady and (Name) were their noses.  Before Loki could say anything, (Name) let out a happy coo.

“Ma… ma,” she babbled.  With that, the lady gently handed (Name) back to Loki and disappeared.  Loki let out a long sigh.

“I should find her, shouldn’t I?”  (Name) pressed her head to the crook of his neck.

Loki poured through every magic book he owned, looking for a conjuring spell.  Most anything he was finding was only an illusion.  Then, finally, he found it.  He pointed to the spell and read the instructions.

To conjure the person to the area where you want them, you must own something of theirs, be it, their deoxyribose nucleic acid, some form of memorabilia, or the like.  Once the possession is in your reach, set it on a flat surface such as a table.  Having done that, form a box shape with your hands over the object as followed in the diagram.  While forming the box shape with your hands, recite the words “Ta med denne personen å ____ La meg se dem. La meg se dem.”  However, fill in the blank space with the place you want the person to end up at.

Loki sighed and looked around for something that he possibly had that the lady would have owned.  Then, he noticed (Name) playing with her bilgesnipe plushie.  He scooped her up into his arms and set her on the table.  She looked around, dazed for a moment, then continued to play with her plushie.  He formed a box shape with his hands over (Name) and closed his eyes.

“Ta med denne personen til soverommet mitt. La meg se dem. La meg se dem.”

Loki opened his eyes and looked around.  The corner of the room began to glow an eerie purple color, then, with a puff of some sparkling substance, the lady that (Name) longed for stood in the corner of the room, confused.  She looked around herself for a moment then at Loki.

“Where… am I?” she asked.

“In Asgard,” Loki said, moving (Name) back to his bed, so she wouldn’t topple off the table.  “In my bedroom.”

“And who are you?” she asked, watching him wistfully as he kissed (Name)’s face.
“I am Loki, of Asgard.  God of Mischief and Lies.”

The lady became unnerved.  “What have you called me here for?  I am but a lady of the Unseelie Court.”

“I know that,” Loki said, closing the distance between him and the lady.  “What is your name?”

“Catriona.”

“Catriona… are you a mother?” Loki asked.

Catriona looked slightly embarrassed.  “Why do you ask that?”

“I would like a simple yes or no answer, if it is all the same to you.”

“Yes, I was a mother once.  It was a baby girl,” Catriona said, but she looked at her feet.

“What is the matter?  Are you not proud to be a mother?”

“She was taken from me.”

“What?” Loki asked.

“My child’s father was a human.  And… he had died before he met (Name).  He told me though, as he lay in that cold white room that the Creator of All would surely bring the three of us together again.  I believed him, but, after my child was born, Mab wrenched my baby from my arms.”  Catriona’s bottom lip trembled and Loki sat her down.

“Why on earth would they take her away from you?”

“To change her with a human child.  I tried to explain that she was half human, but she would have none of it.  I tried so hard to get her back.  With all the magic I could use, I tried to send her somewhere else so I could retrieve her later.  But it backfired.  My baby was lost and Mab felt triumphant.  My baby would be about a year old.”

Loki sat next to Catriona.  “How old was she when she was taken away?”

“About three months,” Catriona sighed.  Loki nodded and stood, moving towards his bed.  He gathered (Name) up in his arms and turned back to the fae woman.

“I found her when she was three months old,” Loki said, sitting by Catriona again.  “She was in Svartalfheim.  I took her in.”

Catriona took the child in her arms and looked at her, her eyes brimming over with fresh tears.  “My baby, my baby girl!  You have found her!  She is alright.”  She hugged (Name) close, garnering a muffled “ack!” from (Name).  “How ever did you know that I was her mother?”

Loki shrugged.  “We were playing with my magic the other day and I cast a spell to see what she longed for.  You showed up in the illusion.”

Catriona leaned forward and kissed Loki’s cheek.  “How am I to repay you for saving and raising my baby girl?”

“You don’t… have to,” Loki said.

“Are you sure?  I must repay you somehow?”

“No, there is nothing you could do to repay me for raising her.”

“Then… I should return with her,” Catriona said, standing up with (Name) still in her arms.

“No,” Loki started.

“No?” Catriona asked.

“I… you can’t take her,” Loki stated.  Catriona looked confused.

“But why not?  She is my baby.”

“But she is my daughter.  I love her,” Loki said, reaching for (Name).  “Her name is (Name).”

Catriona looked at (Name).  “(Name), I do like that name.  But, Loki, you must let me have my baby.  It will kill me to leave without her.”  She turned away from him, so he couldn’t take (Name) back.

“And it won’t kill me?  I’ve known her longer.”

“I gave birth to her!”

“I raised her!”

“I have the stretch marks to prove everything,” Catriona glared up at Loki, puffing her cheeks out slightly.  Loki smiled down at her.  “And what are you smiling about?”

“(Name) puffs out her cheeks when she’s upset.”

“What?  I do not!”

“You just did.  I saw it.”

Catriona smirked.  “Fine.  I have a way to settle this.  Go stand on that end of the room and I’ll stand on this end.  I’ll place (Name) in the center.  Whomever she crawls to keeps her.”

“She can toddle about you know.”

Catriona pointed to the side of the room and Loki strode over to the corner, crossing his arms.  She then placed (Name) in the center of the room and marched to the other end of Loki’s room.  (Name) looked at both her options and yawned.

“This is absolutely absurd,” Loki sighed.  “She’s not a puppy!”

“I know that,” Catriona snapped, but she got low to the ground and reached out for (Name).  “Come on, baby, let’s go home.”  With that, (Name) began to make her way towards Catriona.

“(Name),” Loki called, sitting on the ground.  (Name) looked behind her.  Loki held up the bilgesnipe plushie in one hand.  (Name)’s decision was made.  She scampered toward the plushie and Loki’s arms.

“No fair!” Catriona cried.  “You bribed her!”

“You never said I couldn’t,” Loki mused, bouncing (Name) in his arms.

“But she was coming to me first!  I didn’t have a bribe and she was still coming to me.”

“That is true,” Loki sighed, sitting on the edge of his bed.  Catriona sat next to him.

“You know,” Catriona said slyly.  “My cousin is the King of the Goblins.  I could get him to steal her away from you to give back to me.”

“Now that would be playing unfair,” Loki pointed at Catriona.

“Well, I’m not leaving without my baby.”

“Who said you had to leave?” Loki said with a grin.  Catriona looked confused.  “Surely, raising a child alone is tough work.  I know that.  If you had listened to me in the beginning I called you here to offer you an ultimatum.”

“That being.”

“We could raise the child together.  She does need both a father and a mother, does she not?”

“I suppose that would be for the best,” Catriona said, running her hand over (Name)’s head.

Loki nodded.  “I have been her father for the past nine months and you’ve been her mother since you carried her.  If you were indeed still married to her father, I would give her up.  But, seeing as he is unfortunately not around, and I am indeed sorry for you, I offer you my hand.”

“You don’t know me well,” Catriona said slowly.

“No… but I know your daughter.  Besides, if you were to take her back, and remarry, she would grow up with some problems.  The man who raised her from a year on wouldn’t be the same man who loved her till she was a year old.”

“Ah, that is a good point,” Catriona nodded.  “But how do I know you aren’t lying to me?  You are the god of Lies.”

“I may be,” Loki started, “but this is (Name)’s future we are talking about.  I wouldn’t lie to you about that.  And, if you became my wife, I wouldn’t lie to you at all.”
Catriona thought about it for a moment, then she nodded.

“Alright, Loki.  I’ll concede.  Perhaps I can grow to love you almost as I loved her father.”

“I would be honored.”

~~*~~

And so, Loki and Catriona were wed silently.  They did need at least a witness from each of them, causing Loki to come clean to his brother, who was more than elated to find Loki alive.  Loki swore Thor to secrecy though.  Thor reluctantly agreed.  Catriona did grow to love Loki almost as she had loved (Name)’s birth father, and needless to say, they lived happily ever after.

“Loki?”

“Yes, Cat?”

“Do you think (Name) would mind a brother or a sister?”

“No, I don’t think she would mind.  She can barely put a full sentence together as is.  Why?”

“Well… she’s going to get one.”

“Wait… what?”
Alright.  The last installment of the baby!reader series.  Yay!  Hahaha.   I should probably go eat some lunch before my next class, but I'm too happy to get this done... and before I take my special test thingy next week.  I am sorry it took really long to get this up, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

Love the Jareth reference! I even like how they are going to give her a younger sibling as well, what a family they make.
